Blackberry Season

It was a small discovery, a beautiful blackberry branch tucked away under some bushes. But the blossoms were a sign of hope for the coming of the fruit, and also, that beauty still existed in our tragic world. The cycle of life represented initially by the blossoms included Promise, Anticipation, Ripening, First Taste, The Last, Sweetest Bite and Bare Branches. Having a purpose and a future to look forward to with this one blackberry branch helped me to cope with the tumult of 2020: the sadness of the Corona Virus, the tragedies and wrongness of racism, and the lies and political strife.
